LUCAS BLANCK
Born into a family of winegrowers that have been working the vines in Alsace for centuries at Domaine Paul Blanck.
Vibrant wine flows through Lucas Blanck’s veins, he was helping in the vineyard as soon as he could walk. A self-confessed machine-fiend, he was on the forklift at age 10, but it was out in the field that he felt most at home.
A thirst for learning took Lucas to esteemed neighbours to further his understanding, with apprenticeships served at the likes of Domaine Zind-Humbrecht and Trimbach.
It wasn’t long before that curiosity led him further afield, and he worked his first vintage on the Mornington Peninsula in 2010. Two years later he was working full time for Quealy Winemakers in Balnarring, where he’d go on to look after the vineyard management as it gained organic certification and cemented its place as one of the region’s stand-out estates.
During that time, he co-founded Kerri Greens with his good friend and Quealy second-generation winemaker, Tom McCarthy. What began as a side-project and creative outlet for the duo starting winning accolades in next to no time.
In 2023, Lucas and wife Alyce began a new chapter for Kerri Greens in Red Hill as sole proprietors along with the introduction of Blanck Specialised viticulture managment to help service the premium vineyard of the Mornington Peninsula.
He’s still happiest out in the vineyard and it probably won’t be long before the next-generation Blanck's get behind the wheel of the tractor.
